Childhood memories of Sunday evening walks down the East Pier in Dún Laoghaire. 8000 steps connect the upper and lower levels, some equipped with corroding iron railings, others with none. Mothers watching with trepidation, the unsteady gait of their children as they navigate these narrow, steep and weather-beaten steps. All the while the waves crash, the foam fizzes against the rocks and the halyards clang against the masts of boats as they rock with the lapping water in the harbour.
